Take the Next Step

Why Do You Have to Apply?
The best thing about being a Rooted Writer is the community. We work really hard to be accountable to each other, explore ourselves, and consider the impact of our work.
Writing, especially when you hold a marginalized identity, is vulnerable as hell, so in order for all Rooted Writers to feel safe enough to explore, develop, and share their stories, the alignment of our community is, well, really important.
That's why we have an application process.
I want everyone who joins us to be a "hell yes, you're one of us," so we can write toward a world that is more peaceful, safe, just, and equitable.
Apply for Coaching
If you’re here, you’re ready, or at least you want to be.
Ready to stop writing drafts that go nowhere. Ready to be honest so you can write the story you want to tell. Ready to find a group of writers who think just a deeply and care just as much as you do.
The first step to getting support on your book is to schedule an Intro Coaching Session.
During this 90-minute Zoom call, you'll gain insight into the story you want to tell and explore what's holding you back. You'll experience what it's like to have me believe in your voice, understand your story, and help you find a path forward. If I think I can help you, we’ll explore what kind of support you need and, if you’re ready, get you enrolled.
No matter what, you'll come away feeling more connected to your story, empowered to keep going, and, above all, heard.
Do you need financial aid?
I offer coaching to historically marginalized writers who need financial aid through the Underrepresented Writers Scholarship program. The scholarship has a specific application window, so if you’re not ready and able to enroll, now isn’t the time to have an Intro Coaching Session, but it is the time to get on the scholarship waitlist. I look forward to learning more about you during the next round of applications!
Schedule Your Intro Coaching Session
After your call is booked, you’ll receive an email with an application to complete before we meet.

Enroll in the Rooted Writers Mentorship or Comprehensive Story Coaching by October 1 and your first month’s on me.

Worried You Don’t Belong? Pretty Sure That Means You Do.
Some of the most rooted writers thought they might not belong.
People who were so obviously one of us they should have a tree tattooed on their face worried they might not be good enough for our space.
I understand the fear. I talk a lot about the alignment of our community, and it’s easy to feel like you’re not good enough, political enough, evolved enough.
Hell, I might talk myself out of applying for the Mentorship if I wasn’t the one in charge.
I mean, when we’re talking about making the world better, is anyone really qualified? There’s always more to learn, more to unpack, and no one ever fully arrives, right?
Let me assure you, if you’ve ever felt this way, I can almost guarantee you’re one of us.
You wouldn’t have these worries if you were oblivious to what it takes to make a better world.
So don't let doubt get in the way of applying.
If you made it here, chances are pretty darn good you belong in the Mentorship.
