Intro Book Coaching Sessions are for any fiction writer who is tired of trying to figure out their book on their own and is ready to turn their tangled draft (or slew of ideas) into a novel they’re deeply proud of.
An Intro Session is right for you if you’re ready to invest in getting support on your novel and are curious whether the Coaching Level of the Rooted Writers Mentorship (or private coaching) might be right for you.
During your coaching session, you'll gain insight into the story you want to tell and explore what's holding you back. You'll experience what it's like to have me believe in your voice, understand your story, and help you find a path forward.
If it seems like a good fit, we’ll talk about what it would look like to work together and, if you’re ready, get you enrolled.
No matter what, you'll come away feeling more connected to your story, empowered to keep going, and, above all, heard.
I coach speculative fiction (science fiction, fantasy, dystopian, alternate history, etc), young adult, romance, historical fiction, contemporary fiction, and any heart-centered novel. Because my coaching philosophy is grounded in self-discovery, I’m open to coaching memoir, though I don’t have much experience in this genre.
If you’re writing mystery, thriller, crime fiction, suspense, non-fiction, poetry, or short stories, I’m not the best coach for you, though you’re welcome to apply for the Community Level of the Rooted Writers Mentorship.

Hi, I'm Dani Abernathy.
she/her
I’m a book coach and Enneagram teacher who helps deep thinkers and feelers write the stories they need to tell so their readers can feel seen and can see others.
I believe stories can change the world, one reader at a time, because they teach us to have more compassion for ourselves and others.
Stories are one of our most powerful tools for having less war and more love, and that’s why I’m on a mission to support folks like you as you write brave stories that tell the truth (even in a fantasy world).
It’s my honor to support writers in the slow, deep work of discovering, planning, and writing their stories.
