ProWriting Aid
Strategy Session

You've been at this for a while now. You've read the books, listened to the podcasts, maybe even joined a critique group or two. You can write gorgeous sentences—hell, you might even have pages that make you cry.
But something's still not clicking.
The structure feels wobbly. Your characters meander here and there and everywhere. And that theme you know is buried in your novel? It's playing hide-and-seek like a toddler who's found the crawlspace under your stairs.
Where the hell did they go?
So of course you jumped at the chance to have ProWriting Aid assess your manuscript.
You need this book to be not just good, not just a page-turner, but right.
Because this novel is about more than getting a book deal or being a best seller, it’s about saying something—to yourself, to your reader, hell, maybe even to the world.
But now you’re staring at your manuscript report by the midnight-light of your phone,
totally confused and overwhelmed.
What are you supposed to do with all of this information? How do you know AI caught the nuance that’s meant to make your reader ugly cry? What if it’s just leading you down a wormhole of delusion like those people you keep reading about?
And even more, does it understand what this story means to you? How it’s not just a hobby but an act of self-discovery, healing, and resistance?
AI is an amazing tool,
but it will never be an overthinking, soft-skinned, walking contradiction of a human being who can understand what this book really means to you.
When you’re writing a book that’s deeply personal to you, one that grows from your lived experience, identities, and life-long questions, AI isn’t enough to help you sort through your long-buried fear and untangle your story knots. Not in the way you really crave.
You need a Strategy Session.
We can’t solve all your problems in one call, but was can sure as hell find your next step.
Hi, I'm Dani Abernathy.
I’m a book coach and Enneagram teacher who helps deep thinkers and feelers write the stories they need to tell so their readers can feel seen and can see others.
I believe stories can change the world, one reader at a time, because they teach us to have more compassion for ourselves and others.
Stories are one of our most powerful tools for having less war and more love, and that’s why I’m on a mission to support folks like you as you write brave stories that tell the truth (even in a fantasy world).
What do you get with your Strategy Session?
Before we meet, I’ll read your full Manuscript Analysis from ProWriting Aid so I can understand the primary obstacles you’re facing in your next stage of writing.
I’ll devour the first chapter of your novel to get a feel for your voice, tone, genre, and the utter deliciousness of your book.
Then, we’ll meet for at least 30 minutes, but probably more like 60, to sort through your feelings, talk through your report, and find the next step you need to take to make this novel one you’re deeply proud of.
Schedule Your Strategy Session
Let me be as real as the background in this photo:
If I think I can help you take your book from “What the hell do I do with this?” to “This is the story I wanted to tell,” I am 100% going to invite you to work with me.
A 30-minute conversation isn’t enough time for me to understand why this book is so important to you, help you figure out what’s really driving your protagonist, or sit with you while you find the courage to put your truth on the page.
When the most important thing is getting your book right, you need to gift of writing slow and deep.
And that’s what the Rooted Writers Mentorship is all about.
So if you know you don’t want help moving forward, that’s fine, but if you do, think of this as our first date—a chance to see if we vibe, go way too deep too fast, and decide whether I’m trying to get you to invest in an MLM or some other shady shit.

Worried You Don’t Belong?
Pretty Sure That Means You Do.
Some of our most rooted writers thought they might not belong.
People who were so obviously one of us they should have a tree tattooed on their face worried they might not be good enough for our space.
I understand the fear. I talk a lot about the alignment of our community, and it’s easy to feel like you’re not good enough, political enough, evolved enough.
Hell, I might talk myself out of applying for the Mentorship if I wasn’t the one in charge.
I mean, when we’re talking about making the world better, is anyone really qualified? There’s always more to learn, more to unpack, and no one ever fully arrives, right?
Let me assure you, if you’ve ever felt this way, I can almost guarantee you’re one of us.
You wouldn’t have these worries if you were oblivious to what it takes to make a better world.
So don't let doubt get in the way of applying.
If you made it here, chances are pretty darn good you belong in the Mentorship.
